A filter that could have changed it on the way out has been removed.

2.0.0

First release in the WordPress plugin directory.

The Button Link box starts empty, with a note under it on what to type.

Tested with WordPress 7.1.

1.19.0

The settings screen shows the live preview at the full width of the screen, with the hero choice under it. Each hero in the gallery has a small picture beside its words.

1.18.0

Every function, setting name and hook in the plugin now carries the longer prefix frontdoorhero_, so it can never clash with another plugin. Your saved settings move across by themselves the first time the new version loads.

The hero is escaped at the moment it is printed, and the backup picture's address now travels in the hero's config rather than in an inline style.

1.17.0

A small addition for other scripts: a hero's maker can be looked up by name. Nothing changes on the page.

1.16.0

A hero can now be shown on your Posts Page, the page chosen in Settings, Reading to list your posts. Pick that page under Show My Hero On. The hero shows above the list of posts. Single posts are not changed.

1.15.0

The hero cards on the settings screen are now the same height in each row, and the Fireball card has a fuller description.

1.14.0

For developers: new hooks around the shortcode, the block, the backup pictures and the settings screen.

Deleting the plugin now removes every backup picture it made.

1.13.0

New: Fade In & Up. Each text slide rises a little as it fades in. You can now turn this off, so the slides simply fade.

New: How Far The Words Rise. Set the distance in pixels.

1.12.0

The backup picture is now made again whenever anything about the look of your hero changes.

A hero can keep its own choice for how it starts.

1.11.0

The fire now always runs in rainbow. The choice of your own fire colours is no longer part of this plugin. A site that used it moves to rainbow.

Text slides: add as many as you like.

The plugin now carries its licence, GPL version 2 or later.

1.10.0

A new two step solver. Fire that meets an edge now stays full and rolls out along it, and the finest levels of detail are lighter to run.

Walls: Reflect With Spring is the starting choice again. Plain Reflect is still there.

Fireball: a calmer curl.

1.9.0

New: sunrays. Soft light streaks out from the bright parts of the fire, from the middle of the hero.

New: a Walls choice for Fireball. Plain Reflect sends the fire straight back from the edges. Reflect With Spring pushes it back harder.

Plain Reflect is the starting choice. Pick Reflect With Spring to keep the bounce from earlier versions.

1.8.0

Rainbow is the starting colour choice again.

The click burst is smoother. It swells out evenly and no longer leaves the fire grainy.

Softer shading, so the fire shows its big shapes and not fine grain.

The hero can no longer be squeezed to nothing on a page that reports no width for a moment.

1.7.0

The backup picture is now made at the finest level of detail your computer can hold, and at a larger size.

New: Regenerate Backup Image. Each press gives a new pose. It is kept when you save.

The preview button is now named Show Older Device Backup Image.

Full Screen now fills the space left below your site menu, so the hero ends at the bottom of the window.

New for theme makers: body classes that say a hero is on the page and where it is placed.

Fireball: more spring in the walls, more curl, and old colour clears sooner.

1.6.0

New: the hero now picks its own level of detail for each visitor's device. Fast computers get finer fire, slower ones stay smooth.

Two finer levels of detail for fast graphics cards.

A change of level no longer clears the fire. Resizing the window no longer clears it either.

Fireball: more spring in the walls, and more small curls in the fire.

1.5.0

New: Backup Image. Choose Automatic, My Own Image or Soft Glow. With Automatic, a picture of your hero is made each time you save.

New: Check The Page, which tells you if your hero is showing on the page you picked.

The hero now shows on themes that hide anything they did not place at the top of the page.

New Backup button on the live preview.

Fireball: the walls have more spring.

1.4.0

New: pick the page your hero shows on from a dropdown. Your front page or any other page.

New: Trim Only button style, a see through button with a bold outline. Solid is still there.

The fire bounces back off the edges with more spring.

1.3.0

New look: the fire is now soft glowing light that fades into the dark.

New: rainbow fire.

The fire can be thrown harder, so it rolls further and hits the edges with more force.

1.2.0

The fire now bounces back in off the edges of the hero.

Finer fire detail on desktop screens.

Text in the hero can no longer be highlighted by dragging the mouse.

Headlines always fit, whatever font your theme uses.

Added a tip about transparent top menus.

1.1.0

New: Show On The Front Page switch, with a choice of top of the content or very top of the page.

The logo can no longer be picked up and dragged.

1.0.0

First release.

The website hero builder.
